About RecipeUp

Real Italian cooking, adapted for the way you train, move and live. Published from Rome, written for American kitchens.

What RecipeUp is

RecipeUp is a small, independent recipe site. We cook Italian food — the everyday kind, not the restaurant kind — and adapt it to four goals that most people who care about their health share at some point:

  • Weight loss: lighter versions of the classics, with more vegetables and fiber and fewer calories, that still taste like Italy.
  • Muscle gain: high-protein plates (30–50 g per serving) built around fish, poultry, lean beef, eggs, legumes and Italian cheeses.
  • Endurance: smart carbohydrates — pasta, risotto, farro, bread — timed for training days, long runs and rides.
  • Healthy & green: plant-forward Mediterranean cooking for every other day of the week.

Every recipe gives US customary and metric measurements, realistic prep and cook times, and nutrition facts per serving calculated from USDA FoodData Central.

Who we are

RecipeUp Kitchen is the editorial team of Redbit S.r.l.s., a small digital publishing company based in Rome, Italy. The people behind the recipes are Italian home cooks who train — runners, gym-goers, cyclists — and who got tired of choosing between "authentic" recipes with no nutrition information and "fit" recipes that no Italian would recognize as food.

We are not physicians or registered dietitians, and we say so plainly on every page. We read the research, we cite it, and we keep the claims modest. When a topic needs a professional, we tell you to see one. Read our editorial policy and our nutrition disclaimer.

How recipes are made

  1. Start from a real Italian dish, the way it is cooked at home in Italy — not a "Tuscan chicken" invented for a menu.
  2. Adapt it to the goal: swap, reduce or add ingredients so the macros fit, without turning it into something else.
  3. Cook it, weigh it, write it down. Quantities, times and yields on the site are the ones we actually used.
  4. Calculate nutrition per serving from ingredient weights, using USDA FoodData Central and manufacturer data.
  5. Publish, then keep it honest. Readers' notes and our own re-tests lead to updates; every recipe shows its published and updated dates.

Photos

Most photos on RecipeUp are generated with an AI image model from a description of the finished dish, and each file carries a machine-readable AI marking in its metadata; the full list is on our AI transparency page. We do this because a two-person kitchen cannot shoot a studio photo of every dish, and because we would rather be transparent than pretend. The recipes are written and tested by people. Details on our AI transparency page.

Independence

RecipeUp has no sponsored recipes, no paid placements and no affiliate links at this time. If that changes, it will be disclosed on the page where it happens. Our costs are covered by Redbit S.r.l.s.; in the future the site may show advertising.
